Jazz up your hot dogs with this unique and delicious relish which can be made in advance.

  • 2 tbsp rapeseed oil
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 50 g walnuts roughly chopped
  • 1 gherkin finely diced
  • 1 tbsp American yellow mustard
  • 1 tbsp gherkin juice
  • 1 pack Nisa sausages
  • 4 hot dog rolls split down the centre


  1. Preheat the grill to 200°C.

  2. Heat the oil in a cast iron pan over the barbecue and fry the onion until golden. Add the walnuts and sauté for a further minute.
  3. Transfer the onions and walnuts to a bowl and mix in the gherkin, mustard and gherkin juice and set aside.
  4. Cook the sausages on indirect heat, turning until evenly cooked and reach an internal temperature of 75°C.
  5. Serve in the buns topped with the delicious walnut relish.
