CHEATS PHILLY CHEESESTEAK
I can't claim to have ever visited Philadelphia where this recipe originates but having learnt about the philly cheesesteak I knew I was going to give it a try. You can use any fresh cooked or leftover beef steak finely sliced for this recipe however if you're in a rush on strapped for cash try this out... use minute steaks which are reaily available from the supermarket and are lean but still tender and flavourful. Although they don't quite cook in a minute they are super fast and perfect for this recipe.
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1 onion
- 1 green pepper
- 400 g Beef minute steak
- 1 long french stick
- salt and pepper
- 4 slices cheese traditionally provolone or whatever you have to hand
Finely dice the onion and green pepper.
Heat the oil in a cast iron pan and sautee the onion and green pepper on a medium heat until golden brown.
Whilst the veggies are sauteeing away nicely season the beef with salt and pepper and grill for approximately 2 - 4 minutes each side.
Cut the french stick in half for two portions then in half lengthways and butter.
Remove the beef from the grill and slice as thinly as you can.
Add the beef to the french stick, top withveggies, then cheese and tuck in!
