Disocovering this bread was a bit of a revelation if I'm honest. Not only does it incorporate two of my favourite things in the world - beer and bread but it's so ridiculously easy to make that I can't get my head around why it took me so long to find out about it.
The yeast in the beer allows the bread to rise to a malty loaf which is perfect to tear and share at barbecues. Use a good beer which affects the final taste of the bread. I tend to use a good IPA for my loaves.
preheat the grill to 180C.
gently heat the beer in a saucepan to activate the yeast. Don't allow the beer to get too hot or boil, just a few minutes will do.
add the flour, sugar and beer to a mixing bowl and combine.
pour the mix into a loaf tin.
bake for 50 minutes until the bread is golden and a skewer comes out clean.
